Surely it is the most suitable title, of this personal, free and independent review, to the strength of this incredible component.
I found, in listening to these cables (Essence Reference-II) all the positive features I had read in the reviews. But the thing that surprised me was the measure (magnitude) of all this. Personally I'm not for easy proclamation, but these cables really deserve special attention.
I got to try them out with my previous system - Threshold SA/4e amplifier, Threshold FET 10 preamplifier, and then with the new, C.A.T. JL5 amplifier., C.A.T. SL1 Renaissance preamplifier, with the same Sonic Frontiers SFCD 1 player, and Avalon Eidolon Vision loudspeakers, Wireworld Platinum Eclipse 7 Interconnect cables, Wireworld Eclipse 7 Speaker cables, Astriaudio room acoustic correction (highly recommended). All my chain is powered by the Essence Reference-II and in both configurations the update is without doubt, incredible, great!
The features are:
- Timbre is more natural, less compressed and more analogue.
- Explosive dynamics, greater sense of rhythm, precise time scanning and greater contrast.
- Extremely open sound, released from speakers, and the whole room playing.
- Lightweight range with so much air around the notes.
- The media range is more natural, more musical.
- Low, and mid-low frequencies I’ve never heard before, in both configurations more extensive, more articulated and extremely well controlled.
- Larger soundstage, with greater width and depth, and surgical focus.
Again, the thing that struck me with this update is the measure (magnitude) of all this.
